Former Green Party Leader Dr. Joan Russow Endorses Dimitri

Dimitri Lascaris and Joan Russow Montreal, QC — Green Party of Canada leadership contestant Dimitri Lascaris is proud to announce the endorsement of his campaign by past party leader Dr. Joan Russow.

“Dimitri is willing to take bold and principled stances for peace, the environment, and human rights,” said Dr. Russow. “He is well-known for standing up for the vulnerable, the disenfranchised, and the oppressed.”

Dr. Russow was leader of the Green Party of Canada from 1997 to 2001. Under her leadership, the party developed policies promoting social justice, human rights, peace, and the environment, while doubling its popular support.

“Dimitri’s blending of ecology and democratic socialism provides an exciting foundation for the development of new policy. I believe that by choosing Dimitri as leader of the Green Party, we will help the party unite emerging youth movements with long-time activists,” Dr. Russow said.

Lascaris has also been endorsed by several past members of the party’s Federal Council and Shadow Cabinet: Richard Walsh, Don Scott, and Colin Griffiths.

The Green Party of Canada will announce the results of its leadership election on the evening of October 3rd, 2020, at its national convention in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

Dimitri’s proposals are called “bold”. Contextually, yes ,they are- but fundamentally, they follow principles of justice and equality for all people here in Canada. This cannot be thought bold, but better thought of as normative.
Being a Green Party candidate, Dimitri of course incorporates in his policies that from which all humans on this earth are inseparable: what Grandfather Commanda and other elders have called Mother Earth.
I see that Dimitri leaves no stone unturned. He even loves his mother!

Wow! Thank you, Dimitri, for introducing a former Green Party Leader! How come such a wonderful leader has been hidden from us for two decades. I hope the new GPC will make a tradition to honor and celebrate their past Leaders and strong activists. Honored to meet with you Dr. Russow!
